The recipient of this year's Classic Cars for a Cause is the Crittenden Foundation. The Crittenden Foundation was recently formed in honor of Claire Crittenden, a local four-year old girl diagnosed with Leigh's Disease in June 2007. The Crittenden Foundation is developing plans to build a camp that will be capable of serving the special needs of children who have been diagnosed with a fatal illness, such as children with Leigh's Disease. Leigh's Disease is a rare genetic disorder that causes deterioration of the central nervous system. The prognosis of those impacted by Leigh's Disease is poor and they may live to be 6 or 7 years of age, although some children have survived into their mid-teenage years.
